South Korea's LG Display, the world's number two maker of liquid crystal displays (LCDs), has filed a lawsuit against Samsung Electronics, for allegedly violating its patents on organic light-emitting diode (OLED) panel technologies. In a press conference in Seoul, LG Display accused Samsung Electronics of infringing seven of its OLED patents on five products, noted an article Thursday by Yonhap news agency. The products include Samsung's Galaxy S-series smart phones and tablet computer Galaxy Tab. "The company filed a damage suit to protect its indigenous technologies that took an enormous amount of money and people to develop over a long period of time," an LG official said at the press conference. LG Display did not reveal how much in damages it was seeking. Samsung has called LG's lawsuit a scheme to overcome its own difficulties, and said it will file a countersuit if necessary, according to the report. Earlier this month, the tech giant had sought an injunction … [Read more...] about LG Display sues Samsung over OLED patents

If the G5 is the flagship, and is fully capable and then some to handle the video features of the V10, then LG shouldnt intentionally keep it. The S7 does have all video and photo features from the Note line, there isnt a difference. I think by the time LG realizes that it should update the G5 with video features, it'll be too late. The G5 is already getting sketchy reviews regarding it's build quality compared to other high end flagships, so LG's video feautes form the V10 could have given it a little more … [Read more...] about Comments for : Samsung Galaxy S7 beats the LG G5 by a mile in our blind camera comparison
Amazon Echo and Google Home may have the lead in smart home speakers, but that isn't stopping LG from beating Samsung to the punch over announcing a smart speaker of its own. On Thursday, LG said it will launch a smart home speaker powered by Google Assistant -- called the LG ThinQ Speaker -- at the annual CES show for all things tech in Las Vegas in January. Fellow South Korean rival Samsung is also widely expected to unveil its own smart home speaker running on Samsung-made Bixby Voice. The Galaxy Note 8 phone was the first device to support Bixby Voice, which works on the phone alongside Google Assistant, followed by the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus handsets. The rollout stalled in the US, leaving many buyers skeptical about Samsung's ability to create compelling software to rival Amazon's Alexa sidekick, Apple's Siri, Microsoft's Cortana and Google Assistant. But despite the slow start and mixed reviews, Samsung always envisioned Bixby Voice as the linchpin for a whole-home … [Read more...] about LG beats rival Samsung to announce its first home speaker
December 5, 2017 - Written By Cory McNutt Introduction Do we have a good one for you today – the LG V30 takes direct aim at the Samsung Galaxy S8. No one can complain that this is not a fair comparison, as both are flagship devices that can play on the same field. The Galaxy S8 is the bread and butter of the Samsung lineup, while the LG V30 is LG’s top device and is selling quite well, to put it mildly. Both of these devices are beautifully designed with their small bezels and all glass construction. The Galaxy S8 has a slight edge in looks with its curved and bezel-less sides. Inside, both devices use the same processor/GPU and share 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM. Both devices use Hi-Res audio with the LG V30 topping the Galaxy S8’s specs. Camera areas are excellent on both devices, but the LG V30 uses a dual-camera arrangement. Today we are going look at these two higher priced devices to determine a winner. Before we examine each individual device, we will first see what … [Read more...] about Phone Comparisons: LG V30 vs Samsung Galaxy S8
October 17, 2017 - Written By Cory McNutt Introduction Do we have a flagship comparison today, the venerable Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus takes on the new and improved LG V30. We compared the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and the LG V30 the other day and several readers thought it was an unfair comparison because of the S Pen – they thought the Note 8 was in a separate class and a fairer comparison would be the Galaxy S8 series. Once again, both devices are beautiful to look at and pack in the latest technology. The Galaxy S8 Plus (S8) is Samsung’s strong hold in the smartphone market – it is their flagship device and yields them the most sales. The Galaxy S8 series has an excellent camera and Hi-Res audio through a set of headphones. With the LG V30, LG is packing a dual camera setup to attract photo buffs and the audio buff with its four DACs. The audio only shines if you are wearing headphones because LG only includes one speaker rather than stereo. Today we … [Read more...] about Phone Comparisons: LG V30 vs Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus
LG's talking a big game about the quality of the LG G4's camera, and in the time we've been playing with it, it's certainly produced some impressive images.
