As the biggest Android manufacturer in the world, Samsung typically doesn’t have much to worry about when it comes time to launch their new flagship. This year’s different. After the failed launch of the Galaxy Note 7, Samsung now has to convince the world they still have what it takes to build a quality smartphone, one that is capable of capturing the hearts — and wallets — of consumers the world over. Samsung is also facing some pretty stiff competition this year. The LG G6 (check out our full review here) and HTC U11 are the best smartphones we’ve seen from their respective manufacturers, and with a completely redesigned iPhone 8 just around the corner — Samsung really needs to bring their “A” game this year. Their latest entry into the crowded smartphone market is the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+, two devices that come equipped with beautiful curved displays and more hardware/software features than you can shake a stick at. … [Read more...] about Samsung Galaxy S8 Review
The Galaxy S7 Edge is technically almost identical to the regular Galaxy S7, except for its dual-curved edge display, and a larger capacity battery. It’s by far our preference over the Galaxy S7, though, and is without a doubt one of the best looking, most comfortable to hold, and accomplished smartphones yet to be released. For this reason alone, it’s obviously a worthy upgrade over last year’s Galaxy S6 Edge, a phone we had various doubts over, despite its sexy design. But are the differences major enough that you’d want to grab the S7 Edge as soon as possible? We find out by putting the two Edge phones head-to-head.First, lets compare the specifications before going in for a deeper investigation. The consumer electronics market is a fun thing to pay attention to, but one of the hardest and worst things about it is how little we know about devices before they hit store shelves. Release dates are difficult to find and solid information on the release details of upcoming phones and tablets is also a challenge. If the Samsung Galaxy S8‘s fragility held you back from picking one up at launch, there’s good news: The Galaxy S8 Active is here, and it’s one of the most durable high-end flagship smartphones on the market. The Galaxy S8 Active sports a massive 5.8-inch display, a special impact-absorbing bumper, and a military-grade metal body that resists shocks, shattering, water, and dust. But the Galaxy S8 Active’s durability comes at a cost. Its screen isn’t curved on either side like the Galaxy S8’s, and the metal frame makes it a good deal bulkier than the S8. Then there’s the matter of the Active’s availability. Unlike the Galaxy S8, which is available from every major carrier, the Galaxy S8 Active is exclusive to AT&T.Deciding between the two phones is not an easy decision to make, but we’re here to help. LG has finally taken the wraps off of the long-awaited and heavily leaked G6 — a phone that could be LG’s crowning jewel after a somewhat lackluster release in the modular G5.
