There’s no question that the Moto Z2 Force is a powerhouse of a smartphone. It boasts a 5.5-inch display with 2,560 × 1,440-pixel resolution, shatter-resistant glass, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 processor, and a 12MP dual-sensor camera that mimics the look and feel of high-end DSLRs. But the competition hasn’t been resting on its laurels. Earlier this year, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S8 Plus, the followup to the Galaxy S7, and it’s every bit as capable. The S8 Plus has a 6.2-inch display, an iris scanner, and a host of other desirable features that are squeezed into a gorgeous, curved body. Below, we pit the Lenovo Moto Z2 Force against the Galaxy S8 Plus to see which comes out on top. The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus are some of the most powerful phones out there right now, boasting the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor and 4GB of RAM. Our friends in Korea, however, are getting an even more powerful version of the device.Samsung announced a new variant of the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage for sale solely in South Korea. Those specs are only available on the Galaxy S8 Plus — so those that want the extra RAM and storage will have to be fine with paying for a larger device.Of course, the price alone might be enough to dissuade many people from buying the device — it will cost 1,155,000 won, which equates to around $1,017. That is no small price for a phone. The 6GB of RAM is a figure we will likely start seeing more often. A number of phones have been released over the past year with that much RAM, including the OnePlus 3T. Some expected the standard Galaxy S8 to come with 6GB of RAM, however, in the end, Samsung opted … [Read more...] about South Korea is getting the Galaxy S8 Plus with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage
Samsung’s Galaxy Note 8 is launching roughly a year after the disastrous debut of the recalled Note 7. But it also comes on the heels of Samsung’s newest flagship, the much-lauded Galaxy S8 Plus. So what are the differences? And in the battle of Note 8 vs. S8, who wins? The Note 8 is a bigger smartphone, for starters, and comes with Samsung’s S Pen stylus. It’s the first product in Samsung’s smartphone lineup with a dual camera, but it packs the same Qualcomm octa-core Snapdragon 835 processor you’ll find on the S8. And like the S8, it supports the company’s computer-replacing Dex Station and AI-powered Bixby assistant. But the Galaxy S8 Plus is impressive in its own right. With a 6.2-inch display and gorgeous curves, the S8 Plus proves big can be beautiful, but it’s also breakable. Last year was an eventful year for Samsung, and that’s putting it mildly. August saw the release of the much-anticipated Galaxy Note 7, which blew the competition out of the water — quite literally, as the phone was soon blacklisted from entire countries and banned from major airlines after it revealed a nasty habit of catching fire in owners’ pockets. Not to worry, though; Samsung is a ginormous company, and it has a second chance to regain consumer trust with the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus. So how does Samsung’s latest flagship stack up against Apple’s latest, plus-sized headset? We lauded the latter device in our iPhone 7 Plus review, but here, we examine how its flagship features compare with those of the Galaxy S8 Plus. One of the big benefits of designing a smartphone with an edge-to-edge display is that you can cram a big screen into fairly compact package. And it looks like the Galaxy S8 Plus will definitely be plus sized when it comes to its panel. Noted leaker Evan Blass posted what could be the specs for the Galaxy S8 Plus on Twitter, as reported by The Verge, and they look fairly impressive. What really stands out on this list is the 6.2-inch display, which would dwarf the 5.7-inch screen on the Galaxy Note 7 and the 5.5-inch Galaxy S7 Edge. As you might expect, the S8 Plus will likely sport quad HD+ resolution, which is plenty sharp. (Maybe 4K just isn't in the cards yet.) Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S8 is one of the worst-kept secrets in the smartphone business. And now Samsung has itself to blame for a new leak. The company on Monday published a support page to its site citing the model number, the SM-G955FD. While the page was taken down soon after, eagle-eyed observers noted that the page referred to a Galaxy S8 Plus, and not just a Galaxy S8. This slick Galaxy S8 render shows an edge-to-edge screen. Credit: WoOS Design Several S8 rumors have cropped up over the last few months that suggest that Samsung is planning to change its Galaxy S8 branding. The company in the past used two names to describe its devices based on their size and features. The Galaxy S7 line, for instance, featured a Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge. The latter featured a curved display, thus the "edge" name. However, several reports say that Samsung is planning to nix differentiating branding altogether and simply go with Galaxy S8.
